Master relic stacking, compound triggers, and the game-breaking combinations that turn good runs into unstoppable runs. Every top-tier build in Die in the Dungeon is defined by its relic synergies — not its dice.
Last updated: July 4, 2026
Die in the Dungeon features 56 relics that provide passive bonuses, triggered effects, and game-changing abilities. The true power of relics is not in individual effects — a single Philosopher's Stone giving +2 to minimum rolls is nice but not game-winning. The power comes from stacking: when two or more relics trigger on the same event, in the same turn, their effects compound multiplicatively. A build with three synergistic relics is exponentially stronger than a build with three individually strong but unrelated relics.
There is no maximum to the number of relics you can hold. A typical successful run collects 15-25 relics. The best players do not collect indiscriminately — they hunt for relic combinations that share trigger conditions. An Attack-die-focused build should prioritize relics that trigger on Attack die placement (Inferno Core, Rigged Coin), Attack damage dealt (Blood Chalice, Shapeshifting Fin), or end-of-turn damage checks (Pendulum of Doom, Toxic Cloud). A single Attack die placement can trigger 5+ relics simultaneously when built correctly, turning a value-4 Attack die into a room-clearing event.
The most important stacking rule: duplicate relics stack. If you are offered a second copy of an S-tier relic you already own, take it. Two Philosopher's Stones give +4 minimum roll to all dice — your entire deck is now rolling between 5-6 instead of 1-6. Two Blood Chalices heal 30% of damage dealt. Two Inferno Cores boost Fire dice by 60%. Duplicate stacking is why relic-focused shops on Floor 5+ are the highest-priority tiles in the dungeon.
| Mechanic | How It Works | Priority |
|---|---|---|
| Duplicate Relics | You can acquire the same relic twice in a run. Both copies activate independently. Two Philosopher's Stones give +4 minimum roll, not just +2. This is the most powerful scaling mechanic in the game. | Always take duplicate S-tier relics |
| Compound Triggers | Two relics that trigger on the same event fire simultaneously. Example: an Attack die placed in a center slot triggers Bullseye (x2) AND Mark of the Chosen One (x3 if sole die) AND Inferno Core (+30% fire) — all in one placement. | Build around shared trigger conditions |
| Same-Turn Stacking | Relics that activate in the same turn multiply each other's impact, even if numerically they add. Two +3 damage relics on the same trigger provide more combat value than one +6 relic, because they create more activation events for other on-damage relics. | Prefer multiple smaller triggers over one large one |
| Cross-Turn Carryover | Some relics (Survival Kit, Shadow Cloak) carry benefits between turns. These relics unlock strategies that other relics cannot — Energy carryover enables Glass dice immortality, Block carryover enables Thorns-stacking offense. | Build around carryover when available |
| Relic Combo Name | Relics Required | Synergy Effect | Best Dice Type | Tier |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Golden Dice + Philosopher's Stone | Golden Dice, Philosopher's Stone | Golden Dice scales face values each turn. Philosopher's Stone raises all dice minimum rolls by +2. Combined, your dice start higher and scale faster — each Golden Dice proc is worth 2 extra value from the Stone's floor raise. | Attack Dice, Boost Dice, Any scaling face | S |
| Bullseye + Mark of the Chosen One | Bullseye, Mark of the Chosen One | Bullseye doubles center slot values (halves corners). Mark of the Chosen One triples a die's value when it is the only die on board. On a center slot with only that die on board, you get x6 total multiplier instead of the base value. | Flash property dice (Attack recommended) | S |
| Moon Chakram + Heroic Backpack + The Joker | Moon Chakram, Heroic Backpack, The Joker | Moon Chakram deals 1 damage per die drawn while granting +1 hand size and +1 draw. Heroic Backpack adds another +1 hand and draw. The Joker adds +2 draw on odd turns. You draw 8+ dice per turn and deal damage with every draw. | Glass dice, Attack dice (high-value faces) | S |
| Blood Chalice + Vampire Dice | Blood Chalice, Vampire Dice | Vampire Dice provides lifesteal on damage dealt. Blood Chalice amplifies this by healing 15% of damage dealt as HP. Together they convert roughly 25-30% of all damage output into healing, making health bars effectively bottomless. | Attack Dice, Heavy dice (Scaling damage) | S |
| Inferno Core + Fire Dice | Inferno Core, 2x Fire Dice | Inferno Core boosts Fire dice damage by +30%. With two Fire dice on board simultaneously, the boost stacks additively per die. A board with 3 Fire dice and Inferno Core deals 90% bonus fire damage — enough to melt bosses in 3-4 turns. | Fire Dice, Glass dice (for breaking and AoE) | A |
| Raincoat + Makeshift Trench | Raincoat, Makeshift Trench | Raincoat grants +3 Block when no Block dice are on board at turn end. Makeshift Trench grants +1 Block per die in hand at turn end. Together you gain 6-10 passive Block per turn without playing a single Block die — freeing board slots for pure offense. | Flash Block dice, Draw-heavy decks | A |
| Evergreen Sap + Unpolished Shards + Survival Kit | Evergreen Sap, Unpolished Shards, Survival Kit | Unpolished Shards gives Glass dice +3 Extra Value. Evergreen Sap prevents Glass dice from breaking when you have leftover Energy. Survival Kit lets you carry 1 Energy between turns. Together Glass dice become permanent +3 value faces that never break. | Glass dice (any type, Attack preferred) | A |
| Star Yo-Yo + Blinding Lightbulb | Star Yo-Yo, Blinding Lightbulb | Star Yo-Yo passes overflow damage to next enemy. Blinding Lightbulb deals 2 damage to all enemies when Flash dice are used. Overkill a weak enemy with a Flash die → overflow hits next target → Flash triggers AoE damage to everything. Clears entire rooms in one chain. | Flash Attack dice, High-value Attack dice | A |
This is the most universally powerful relic combination in Die in the Dungeon. Golden Dice increases face values each turn they remain on the board — a value-3 die becomes 4, then 5, then 6 over consecutive turns. Philosopher's Stone raises the minimum roll of every die by +2, meaning your dice never roll below 3. The combined effect: every die starts at 3-6 instead of 1-6, and every die scales upward each turn it stays on board. By turn 5, your board is full of value-5 and value-6 dice regardless of what you initially rolled. No other combo provides this level of consistent, guaranteed power scaling.
How to build around it: Prioritize dice that benefit from staying on the board — Boost dice, Attack dice with high base values, and Flash dice that can be repositioned. Avoid Glass dice (they break before Golden Dice can scale them). Take every duplicate Philosopher's Stone you are offered — two Stones mean your dice roll 5-6 only, and Golden Dice makes them stay at 6 permanently. This combo is so strong that it is worth pivoting your entire build if you find Philosopher's Stone early.
Anti-synergy: Origami Frog (discards hand at end of turn) prevents Golden Dice from scaling. Chocolate Muffin (nullifies turn 1 damage) does not interfere but wastes the Stone's advantage on the most important setup turn.
Bullseye doubles the value of center-slot dice while halving corner-slot values. Mark of the Chosen One triples a die's value if it is the only die on the board. Placing a single die in the center slot — and no other dice — triggers x6 total multiplier. A value-6 Attack die becomes 36 damage. This is the highest single-slot damage multiplier in the game and can one-shot most non-boss enemies at any difficulty.
Optimal execution: Use Flash-property Attack dice. Place the Flash die alone on the center slot to trigger Mark of the Chosen One. Use the Flash ability to remove it before placing other dice. On the next turn, place it again — alone — to trigger the x6 multiplier repeatedly. This bypasses the "only die on board" restriction by clearing the board between activations.
Anti-synergy: Boost dice targeting this slot will add other dice and break Mark of the Chosen One's condition. Pachinko Balls (random slot value adds) also disrupt the solo-die requirement. Do not take any relic that adds dice to random board slots when running this combo.
Moon Chakram is widely considered the single best relic in the game: +1 hand size, +1 draw per turn, and 1 damage to target enemy per die drawn. Adding Heroic Backpack (+1 hand, +1 draw) and The Joker (+2 draw on odd turns) creates a draw engine that cycles through your entire 15-dice deck in 2-3 turns. With 8+ dice drawn per turn and damage dealt on every draw, this combo provides both board-filling consistency and passive damage that requires zero Energy investment.
How to maximize: Stack your deck with high-value Attack dice — the draw damage from Moon Chakram is flat (1 per draw), but drawing into better Attack dice means your actual turns deal massive damage. Prioritize dice removal to keep your deck at 12-14 dice maximum. A thinner deck means you cycle through your best dice faster. The draw engine is the enabler — your Attack dice are the payload.
Required unlock: Heroic Backpack unlocks after reaching Floor 10 in any run. Moon Chakram requires a specific event with Glass and Heavy dice. The Joker is available from the start. If you lack Moon Chakram, Heroic Backpack + The Joker is still a strong two-relic foundation — you just lose the draw-damage component.
Blood Chalice heals 15% of all damage dealt as HP. Vampire Dice provides innate lifesteal on its Attack faces. Together they convert 25-30% of your total damage output into healing. In a deck dealing 30+ damage per turn, this is 7-9 HP healed per turn — more than most enemies can deal. You effectively become immortal as long as you can maintain damage output. Boss fights that normally require careful Block management become damage races where you out-heal the boss.
How to build: Fill your deck with 4-5 Attack dice, prioritizing Vampire Dice copies. The healing scales with damage output, so any relic that boosts Attack dice damage (Inferno Core, Rigged Coin, Leader Badge) also indirectly boosts healing. Pair with Shapeshifting Fin — when at full HP (which you will be constantly), excess healing converts to bonus damage, creating a feedback loop of damage → healing → more damage.
Weakness: Burst-damage enemies that can kill you in one hit before healing activates. This combo requires at least 2 turns of setup to hit peak healing. Bring at least one Block die for the first turn of boss fights, then transition to pure offense once the lifesteal engine is running.
Inferno Core boosts all Fire-type dice damage by +30%. Each Fire die on the board benefits independently. With 3 Fire dice and Inferno Core, your fire damage output increases by 90% total (30% per die). In a dedicated fire build with 5+ Fire dice, Inferno Core is effectively a 150% damage multiplier — the single largest damage boost in the game for specialized builds.
Optimal build: 5 Fire Attack dice + 2 Fire Block dice + Inferno Core + duplicate Inferno Core if possible. The second Inferno Core doubles the bonus to 60% per Fire die. At this point each Fire Attack die with value-4 deals 6.4 base damage (4 × 1.6), and with 5 Fire dice on board, total output exceeds 30 damage per turn. Bosses die in 2-3 turns.
Counter: Enemies with Fire resistance or immunity completely negate this build. Scout boss types before committing. Anti-synergy with Frozen Crown (Ice build) — Fire and Ice dice compete for board slots and do not compound.
This combination generates Block without consuming board slots for Block dice. Raincoat provides +3 Block if no Block dice are on board at turn end. Makeshift Trench adds +1 Block per die remaining in hand at turn end. With a full hand of 5 dice, you gain 8 passive Block per turn — enough to negate most non-boss enemy attacks. Your entire board can be dedicated to Attack dice, maximizing damage while staying perfectly safe.
How to optimize: Use Flash Block dice that you play for their Flash effect, then remove before turn end. Flash Block dice trigger their block value, then leave the board — satisfying Raincoat's "no Block dice on board" condition while still providing active Block. Pair with Miner Hat (+2 Block at battle start) and Bubbly Cement (+3 extra Block per Block gained) to push passive Block generation above 15 per turn.
Weakness: Boss attacks that deal 20+ damage in a single hit overwhelm passive Block. Supplement with at least one dedicated Shield die for boss fights. Anti-synergy with Shadow Cloak (Block dice -2 value), which penalizes the very Block dice you might need for burst protection.
Glass dice normally break after use — high risk, high reward. Unpolished Shards gives Glass dice +3 Extra Value, making them the highest-value dice in the game. Evergreen Sap prevents Glass dice from breaking if you have leftover Energy at turn end. Survival Kit lets you carry 1 Energy between turns. Combined: your Glass dice never break, always have +3 value, and you always have the Energy to protect them. Glass dice become strictly superior to all other dice types.
Build priority: Fill your deck with nothing but Glass dice of your chosen type. With the Sap-Shards-Kit trio online, there is zero downside to Glass dice. A full Glass Attack deck with +3 per die deals 2-3× more damage than a standard deck. The Survival Kit is the linchpin — without it, energy management is inconsistent and Glass dice occasionally break. The Kit ensures reliability.
Risk: If you ever run out of Energy (Primordial Fear curse, low-energy turns), the entire protection collapses and all your Glass dice break simultaneously. Always keep at least 2 Energy at turn end as a safety buffer. Avoid Chocolate Muffin and other turn-1-nullification relics that waste your setup turn.
Star Yo-Yo transfers excess damage from a killed enemy to the next target. Blinding Lightbulb deals 2 AoE damage whenever a Flash die is used. Combine them: use a high-value Flash Attack die to overkill a weak enemy — the overflow transfers to the next target via Star Yo-Yo — and the Flash activation triggers Blinding Lightbulb for 2 damage to all enemies simultaneously. One die placement can hit three different damage instances: direct, overflow, and AoE.
Optimal scenario: Enemy rooms with 3+ enemies, especially mixed high-HP and low-HP groups. Place the Flash Attack die on the lowest-HP enemy. The direct damage kills it. Overflow hits the next enemy. Lightbulb AoE hits everything. The process cascades if the overflow also kills — Star Yo-Yo keeps chaining until an enemy survives or the room is cleared.
Limitation: Single-target boss fights. Star Yo-Yo provides zero value with only one enemy. Blinding Lightbulb still contributes 2 damage per Flash activation, but the combo loses its chain-reaction identity. Swap this combo out for single-target alternatives before boss floors.
No relic combination defines Die in the Dungeon's meta more than Golden Dice and Philosopher's Stone. It is the first combo every advanced player hunts for, and finding both relics before Floor 5 correlates with an estimated 80%+ win rate on any difficulty. Here is why this combo is so dominant and how to build around it properly.
Without relics, a die rolls 1-6 uniformly (average 3.5). With Philosopher's Stone alone: rolls 3-6 (average 4.5). With Golden Dice alone: starts at rolled value, gains +1 each turn (value-3 becomes 4 on turn 2, 5 on turn 3). With both: starts at 3-6, gains +1 each turn. By turn 3, a die that started at value-4 reaches value-6 and stays there. In a 10-turn fight, your average die value across all turns increases from 3.5 (baseline) to approximately 5.2 (combo) — a 48% average damage increase.
With duplicate Philosopher's Stone: minimum roll becomes 5. Dice roll 5-6 only (average 5.5). With Golden Dice scaling: all dice reach value-6 by turn 2 and stay at 6 permanently. Average die value becomes 5.83 across a 10-turn fight. Damage output nearly doubles compared to baseline.
Key insight: The true power is consistency, not peak damage. Removing low-roll variance (1s and 2s) means you never have dead turns. Every turn is a good turn. This consistency is more valuable than higher potential damage that sometimes whiffs — in a game where one bad turn can end a run, guaranteed-good turns are priceless.
Dice lineup (14 dice): 5 Attack dice (high base value, avoid Glass), 3 Shield dice, 2 Boost dice, 2 Flash dice (for repositioning), 1 Heal die, 1 utility flex slot.
Core relics (in priority order): Philosopher's Stone → Golden Dice → duplicate Stone (if offered) → Leader Badge (first face active = +3 Extra Value) → Dice Bag+ (start with +1 die). Beyond these, add any relic that benefits from consistently high die values — Crooked Hourglass (hand dice reroll to max), Providential Vial (turn-1 dice roll max), and Survival Kit (Energy carryover for more consistency).
Play pattern: Turn 1: place Attack dice aggressively — your minimum roll of 3 means even "bad" turns deal solid damage. Turn 2: Golden Dice has boosted your carryover dice. Place more dice, deal more damage. Turn 3+: your board is full of value-5 and value-6 dice. Transition to a "maintain board, replace only when needed" playstyle. The board is your engine — preserve it.
If your build relies on Glass dice that break frequently, Golden Dice scaling is wasted — the dice do not stay on board long enough to benefit. If you are using Origami Frog (discard hand each turn), you can never build a board state for Golden Dice to scale. If you found Bullseye + Mark of the Chosen One early, commit to that one-shot build instead — the two combos conflict (Mark requires solo dice, Golden Dice wants a full board). Sometimes the best relic synergy decision is knowing when another combo is better for your specific run.

Relic acquisition is primarily through shops, events, and boss rewards. The most important strategic rule: prioritize shops on Floor 5 and beyond. Early shops (Floors 1-3) offer a limited selection of Common relics, while shops from Floor 5+ unlock Uncommon, Rare, and Epic relics. The relic pool expands dramatically after Floor 5 — this is when you can realistically hunt for S-tier combinations.
Do not spend gold chasing specific relics early. The common relic pool is too small and too weak. Take whatever relic shops offer for cheap, prioritize dice purchases to establish your deck identity, and save gold. A strong 12-dice deck with 2 mediocre relics beats a weak deck with 4 good relics. The deck is the foundation — relics are the multiplier.
This is the critical phase. Visit every shop. Look for S and A-tier relics that match your deck's damage type. One S-tier anchor relic (Philosopher's Stone, Bullseye, Moon Chakram) defines your relic strategy for the rest of the run. Once you have your anchor, immediately start hunting for its synergy partner. Do not buy relics that do not contribute to your anchor combo — a second-rate relic without synergy is worse than skipping and saving gold for the next shop.
Your relic engine should be online with at least one complete synergy pair. Now fill gaps with fixer relics: Scavenger Beak (extra rewards), Monkey Paw (death protection), Bittersweet Cake (end-of-battle healing), and Shadow Cloak (Block carryover for boss fights). These relics do not define your build but patch weaknesses that could end your run. A Monkey Paw is never a wasted purchase — it saves runs.
A winning run typically collects 15-25 relics. However, quality matters far more than quantity. A run with 12 relics where 8 are part of a synergy engine will outperform a run with 25 random relics. The ideal relic count by floor: 3-5 relics by Floor 3, 8-12 by Floor 6, and 15+ by the final boss. If you have fewer relics but they are all synergistic, you are in a strong position. If you have lots of relics but no synergy pairs, your late-game power will fall off.
Almost always yes. A duplicate Philosopher's Stone, Blood Chalice, or Inferno Core doubles the effect with no downside. The only exception is when taking the duplicate prevents you from affording a missing synergy partner. If you have Philosopher's Stone but no Golden Dice, and the shop offers both a duplicate Stone AND a Golden Dice, buy the Golden Dice first — completing the synergy pair is worth more than doubling a single effect. If you already have the partner relic, always take the duplicate.
Blood Chalice + Vampire Dice is the most forgiving relic combination for new players. Lifesteal covers for mistakes, poor Block timing, and unfamiliar boss patterns. It works with any Attack dice and does not require specific board positioning or turn sequencing. Focus on getting this pair in your first few runs. Once you are comfortable surviving, graduate to Philosopher's Stone + Golden Dice for the consistency boost, and eventually to Bullseye + Mark of the Chosen One for learning precision board management.
